Nintendo Switch 2 launched on June 5, and in just four short days the console pushed 3.5 million units to consumers across the globe. Three. Point. Five. Million. That’s… a lot of Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. So many that it broke records, both in the United States and Japan. In the US, Nintendo has sold 1.1 million units within the first launch week. This eclipsed Sony’s record with a million PlayStation 4 consoles sold during the same period. It was predicted that this might happen, but it’s nonetheless pleasantly surprising news.

Meanwhile in Japan, Nintendo Switch 2 moved 947,931 units in the country, which was a record there, as well. There were massive lines at retailers, swaths of people have been trying to get a hold of the console via online outlets, and overall it has been a real whirlwind of excitement and enthusiasm as fans around the world clamber for Nintendo Switch 2. Analysts predict that Switch will breach 46 million units sold by 2026, and others are also predicting that Nintendo will become the primary partner for third-party publishers.
