Not only is the year drawing to a close, but so is the decade; so, it’s as good a time as any to feel nostalgic. To commemorate the last 10 years, Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of America have tweeted out images showing off a selection of some of the numerous systems and games they released.

While there are a few small differences, the overall narrative is pretty similar. The decade started out with the later years of the super successful Wii and DS, but things quickly got rather difficult. Both 3DS and Wii U struggled out of the gate, though the former eventually found plenty of success in its own right. The Wii U was not so lucky, even if it did play host to a plethora of well-received games that would eventually go on to help bolster the library of Nintendo’s next system, Switch. The hybrid system has been a massive success in its nearly three years since release, as has its selection of games including genre defining hits like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.

Nintendo might have had a few difficulties to kick-off the 2010s, but there’s no doubt they’re entering the 2020s with lots of momentum. Even as the competition prepares powerful new hardware, Switch offers a fundamentally different experience with lots of promising software on the horizon.
