The short-lived feature was apparently a “trial”.

We reported a few days ago that Nintendo had added a new feature on Nintendo.com to let users review games on Switch. Well, it turns out that the publisher has already decided to taken down the feature from its website and has given no clear reason for the move.

Users could briefly leave one-to-five star ratings, input tags for games and leave a variety of comments. These reviews have now disappeared and are replaced by a section called “Customer Review status” which states:

Customer reviews have been taken offline as we evaluate this feature and its functionality. We currently have no estimated date on when an update will be provided. We appreciate the positive response and thank the reviewers who provided such thoughtful commentary on the games.

Nintendo subsequently provided Kotaku with a statement on the decision, saying that the review feature was a “trial”:

Nintendo.com recently offered a trial customer review feature to let users share feedback about Nintendo Switch games on our website. The response has been positive, and Nintendo appreciates the time and effort that reviewers put into their thoughtful commentary on the games. Nintendo has removed this feature as we evaluate the future of the ratings functionality on Nintendo.com. We have no estimate on when an update will be provided on the status of this initiative, but we appreciate the enthusiasm shown for the trial.”

It’s a shame that the feature was so short-lived, but it is not entirely surprising given that Nintendo has shown on multiple occasions that it is willing to try new ideas and pull them quickly based on feedback. In any case, it will be interesting to see whether this feature crops up again in the future in another form.
