It had been rumored that Overwatch would be heading to Switch when an officially licensed PowerA system case was accidentally revealed on Amazon. Sure, it was nothing official, but the case was pretty incriminating— and sure enough, right out of the gates during today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast it was unveiled that Overwatch: Legendary Edition was finally coming to Switch! Peep it in this trailer:

As noted by Blizzard, this iteration of Overwatch comes with over three years of content in tow. The release date? October 15! There will also be some Switch-specific features like motion controls for aiming and an exclusive Widowmaker skin (which can only be obtained by preordering the game). Here’s everything that comes with the game:

  • Golden Loot Box containing at least one legendary item
  • 15 skins comprised of five legendary outfits, five epic looks, and five origin skins
  • 3 months of Nintendo Switch Online

Unfortunately, it seems that at launch there won’t be cross-play support for Overwatch, but it is something that Blizzard is contemplating moving forward. Keep in mind that Overwatch needs an Internet connection to be played. Fans can purchase a digital copy at launch of a boxed copy with a download code inside.
