There’s soccer and then there’s Mario soccer. The latter is a crazy mixture of giant soccer balls, powerups, and special moves. It’s been a stretch since the last Mario Strikers game (that honor goes to Mario Strikers Charged on Wii back in 2007), but it was revealed during Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct that there is another sequel finally on the way. Take a look at Mario Strikers: Battle League:

Here’s how Nintendo breaks down the game:

Prepare for Strike, a five-on-five soccer-like sport with no rules – do whatever it takes to win! In this game, you can tackle, use items and activate special shots. Up to eight players – four players on each team – can compete against each other on one Nintendo Switch system. In addition to individual matches, online* play will let 20 players join up and compete to become the world’s top club. The main rule in this sport is to rule the field!

Battle League comes to Nintendo Switch on June 10. Pre-orders are live in the eShop, but note that the game will also launch physically, so wherever you’d like to reserve a copy is up to you. Are you looking forward to a new Mario soccer game? Tell us in the comments!
