When Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy came to Nintendo Switch earlier this year, one of the thoughts I had was how almost the entirety of the Ace Attorney series was now on the console. The only exceptions were the two Nintendo DS spin-off games Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and the Japan-only Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor’s Gambit, the latter of which never even left the shores of Japan. Flash forward to today’s Nintendo Direct presentation and we now live in a world that will soon be home to every Ace Attorney title to date, including AAI2, which is being officially localized for the first time.
As I mentioned above, these were originally Nintendo DS games, so fans are likely wondering how they’ll make the transition to Nintendo Switch. Capcom says that fans can look forward to the following:
- Enhanced In-Game Look & Feel: There are hand drawn HD versions of the original graphics with the option to switch between new and classic sprites.
- History Functionality: Players can review their conversation history to uncover inconsistencies and clues that might have been overlooked.
- Story Mode: Story Mode has been updated to automatically go through the gameplay on your behalf, if you so choose.
- Gallery Mode: There is a catalog of illustrations, character animations, accolades, and soundtracks, including sketches, promotional art, and all 106 in-game background tracks. Gallery mode also includes 23 orchestral tracks, one completely new track, and five arranged tracks from the original Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.
- In-Game Soundtrack: Play using the original soundtrack or swap in the five newly arranged tracks.
That’s a lot of work that has gone into bringing these two games to Switch. We’ll see if that elbow grease pays off when Ace Attorney Investigations Collection comes to Nintendo Switch on September 6, 2024.
