Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door just launched on Switch this past Thursday and Nintendo is already looking to fans for some input on where the series goes next. Nintendo has put out a survey asking a number of questions about the game, including whether or not there should be a return to the style of uniquely designed characters featured in the adventure. As some fans might recall, Nintendo made a whole thing about abandoning unique characters in the Paper Mario series a while back, a move which left many rather perplexed by the company.
Now, it seems, with this rerelease of the GameCube classic on everyone’s radars, Nintendo seems to be feeling out whether or not it might be more advantageous to once again embrace fresh spins on its classic roster of side characters in the Mario universe. Arguably half the fun of the Paper Mario series was seeing oddballs like Admiral Bobbery, Don Pianta, Goombella, and others. Hopefully if fans are vocal enough, future Paper Mario games will bring characters like these back.
