Generally speaking, most people don’t call the NES the Nintendo Entertainment System when talking about the console, either in written or spoken word. It tends to just get shortened to “NES” — but how have you been pronouncing it all this time?
Thanks to WarioWare Gold, we now have what seems to be an answer to the question of what is the right way to pronounce NES. From “Nez” to “Ness” to “En-Ee-Ess” everyone seems to say it differently, but the recently released 3DS title suggests that it should be pronounced as “Ness.”
In the museum section of the Japanese version of Wario Ware Gold, you can unlock some slides showcasing the Famicom. Also included is a picture of the NES. Within the description, Nintendo themselves says that “NES” is pronounced “Ness”. pic.twitter.com/Vg5JjXgJgy

There you have it, folks. Nintendo trying to lay down the pronunciation law, although possibly 35 years too late.
This might appease any Poindexter you argue with in the future who tries to correct you if you don’t say “Ness,” but keep on keeping on with whatever way you say it yourself. Of course, Nintendo will be none the wiser.
