Switch has quickly become a haven for ports. Given the system’s portable capabilities and impressive sales, it’s not surprising that many publishers have jumped at the opportunity to bring slightly older titles to the platform. What is surprising, however, is the fact that a number of Wii games are starting to appear, as well. de Blob and Go Vacation have both made the jump, while Ubisoft has announced an upcoming port of the minigame collection Sports Party. Nintendo does not seem to oppose the idea either, as a new trademark in Japan hints at a possible Switch port for Endless Ocean.
Endless Ocean is a fairly unique title. Released in 2007, the title tasks players with exploring the ocean as a scuba diver and discovering various forms of sea life. The title is one of the few Wii games that allowed players to add their own music to the game, via SD card. A sequel, Endless Ocean: Blue World, was released in 2010, offering online co-op and more areas to explore.
As with any new trademark listing, it’s important to remember that sometimes, these don’t lead to anything in particular. After all, speculation ran rampant when Nintendo renewed their trademark for Eternal Darkness, but nothing has come of that. Still, if Endless Ocean does appear on Switch, perhaps it will open Nintendo to the possibility of bringing more Wii titles to the platform. There are certainly a number of great candidates.

To me, this is more desirable than the Wii U ports which I already own and are already in HD. (I do think the Wii U ports are great for folks who skipped out on the Wii U.)
I think an Endless Ocean HD collection would be great on Switch. Along with many other Wii titles. Would love to hear what Wii games the Nintendojo staff would most want ported to Switch.
Personally? I want Kirby’s Epic Yarn and Donkey Kong Country Returns, in that order!
