Taking “aesthetic” Polaroids and posting photos of the photo to your Instagram account is passé. Nintendo and Fujifilm have partnered to create a new trend: posting photos of photos of your Pokémon to your Instagram account.

In all seriousness, Nintendo and Fujifilm have partnered on a fun new venture in honor of the April 30 release of New Pokémon Snap for Nintendo Switch. Fujifilm has announced a Switch-themed version of its Instax Mini Link Smartphone Printer, in addition to an app that will making editing and printing screenshots possible. Users will choose a screenshot or image saved onto their Switch and generate a QR code to scan using the app on their phone. They will then be able to edit the image using the app and send it to the printer, which will print out the image on Polaroid-style film.

The app will allow users to add 59 different frames to their photos, all featuring themes from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, New Pokémon Snap, and Super Mario Odyssey. The new colorway for the Mini Link printer is Ash White, with red and blue accents meant to make reference to the official color palette of the Switch. (The app will be compatible with existing Instax Mini Link Smartphone Printers.) Additionally, Fujifilm will be releasing a Pikachu silicone sleeve for the printer, which will be available as part of a limited-edition bundle (produced in limited quantities) “several weeks” after the standalone printer and app become available for purchase and download on April 30.

The Ash White Instax Mini Link Smartphone Printer will be $99.99 at launch, while the limited-edition bundle, which includes the printer and Pikachu silicone sleeve, will be $119.99 when it becomes available in late May 2021. As of the time of writing we couldn’t locate any US retailer listings for the printer.
