As it turns out, Donkey Kong as he originally appeared in the 8-bit arcade game wasn’t going to show up in the new Pixels movie. According to director Chris Columbus, “I was excited because the script had a Centipede sequence and a Pac-Man sequence, but what the first draft of the script did not have was Donkey Kong. After months and months of meeting with the board of Nintendo they agreed that we were going to treat Donkey Kong with respect and the proper gameplay, which was very important, and bringing Donkey Kong into the film was a slam-dunk for us.”
But did the King of Kong end up being treated with respect? A flood of scathing reviews have decried the movie, citing it as painfully unfunny and Adam Sandler’s biggest folly. Not looking good, DK, not looking good.
Will you still see Pixels? Let us know in the comments!

Going to pass on the movie based on what I have read about it, but when it comes to redbox or wherever will see it then. Nintendo might be regretting this decision now, or maybe not because no one will see it. Better to watch The King of Kong instead.
Amen. King of Kong is a great movie, and a must watch flick for any passionate video game fan. I love that Peter Dinklage is apparently doing a Billy Mitchell impersonation in this flick, but I was out when I saw Sandler and James.
Exactly the kind of movie that I want to be excellent but have no doubt at all that it will be mindblowingly terrible.
yeeeaaahhhh… gonna wait until Netflix release.
