I remember back when Angry Birds hit mobile for the first time, Shigeru Miyamoto was quoted as saying that the concept of the game was so simple and classic that he wished he’d invented it. I’m sure many people will feel the same way once they see the Flip Grip. It’s a new accessory for Switch that’s being Kickstarted by Jeremy Perish of Retronauts and the folks at Fangamer. The peripheral is designed to allow users to connect their Joy-Cons to the Switch while it’s in a vertical orientation! Check it out:
Pretty nifty, eh? As the video shows, the accessory requires no power and is made to optimize as many features of Switch as possible while being minimally intrusive. Lead designer Mike Choi has gone through a lot of effort to consider as many different details as possible, including heat distribution and headphone jack accessibility. True, users can’t charge their Switch while using the Flip Grip, but it’s a small price to pay in order to play things like Hamster’s Arcade Archives shooter titles in the format they’re best suited for.
You can hit up the link below to help fund the Flip Grip, if it’s the sort of thing you’d love to see become a reality. As of this writing the project is at $72,839 of its goal of $42,500, so the project is in good shape no matter what. It closes on July 9, so there’s still time to give it some thought.
