With the release of Sonic Mania, Sega restored some of the confidence it had lost among Sonic fans and showed they still know how to deliver a great retro experience based on the franchise’s original games. However, Sonic Forces will soon show the world whether or not the company can achieve the same success with a more modern design. One of the ways they are attempting this is with the game’s new custom Hero Characters. Today, Sega revealed a few more details about some of the skills your avatar will have at their disposal.
While your character might not have the same skills as Sonic himself, they will have access to Wispons, special equipment that allows them to harness the power of the Wisps introduced in Sonic Colors. The newest Wispon added to the arsenal is the drill, which can be used to punch enemies, climb walls, and dash around stages. The Drill Wispon will be joining the Burst, Cube, and Lightning Wispons in your arsenal.
The screenshots showing off these new skills also include a new stage, the Chemical Plant.
Sonic Forces comes out on November 7 for Nintendo Switch.
