Mighty No. 9, the oft-delayed spiritual successor to Mega Man being helmed by Keiji Inafune’s studio Comcept and developer Inti Creates, got a new trailer recently, which you can view below. We’ll wait for you to watch it…
All caught up? For many, it may have been a bit hard to watch, as the video is being ridiculed across the Internet for having a very questionable narrative to go along with what is otherwise some snazzy-looking gameplay. The tone of the trailer is seemingly supposed to be “edgy,” but considering it takes a potshot at the very sort of fans who are likely part of the demographic who will potentially be buying Mighty No. 9… well, someone at publisher Deep Silver might not have been connecting the dots very well before sending this one out into the wild. So much so that the CEO of Inti Creates himself declared the trailer a disaster.
At the very least, the gameplay continues to look promising, so as long as Inafune and company were able to recapture the glory of the original Mega Man games. Still, with all the delays and the negative publicity that this trailer is garnering, expectations for Mighty No. 9 are certainly mixed at this point. What do you think of the trailer? Sound off, below!

Either they’re trying to be funny and they’re bad at it, or they though the game was a smart phone app. Sighhh…
I’ve been pretty effective at cutting video advertising out of my life, and this is a great reminder of why.
On mute, the gameplay footage itself seems good. I do worry that everything we see has so much dashing and combo and Gunvolt stuff in it rather than more classical Mega Man gameplay, but I’m hoping this is what it looks like when a speedrunner takes to the game, and other play styles will be effective too.
IKR! I first had the mute on, and I couldn’t figure out what the problem was. Was it too fast? Was it the style of the cut-scenes? Or am I just getting too old? Then I turned on the sound and watched it again. OOoohh…
