Information on an employee’s Linked profile may point to an Eternal Darkness sequel in the works.

It’s all but impossible for games not to be leaked in some way before they are officially announced these days. Whilst we don’t know for certain what Retro Studios is currently working on, the Linkedin profile of one of its employees has given us some hints.

The writer in question’s profile lists that they are:

“Working with a highly skilled team to bridge the gaps between game design needs and telling a compelling story in a meaningful world. Finding the best ways to construct the narrative we want the player to experience with the tools and restrictions available through text, dialogue, and non-traditional storytelling.”

The individual has also included the following:

* Key team member for collaborative worldbuilding, story construction, and IP development.
* Point of contact for supplemental prose writing.
* Special focus on designer collaboration for player experience storytelling.

Retro’s last original title was Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, which originally came to Wii U in 2014. Based on this Linkedin information, it seems like there is a much heavier focus on storytelling in their unannounced title, making it seem unlikely that it will be another Donkey Kong platformer (unless the series goes in yet another surprising direction). In fact, there are rumors swirling around the internet that it could be a new Eternal Darkness game (which certainly fits), but it may also be an entirely new IP.

We may be lucky enough to hear about this in the recently announced Nintendo Direct taking place tomorrow, although it is admittedly very unlikely. In reality, we probably won’t hear any official news about Retro’s next game before E3 at the earliest.
