When Nintendo launched the original Splatoon, they established a new approach to how they handled their games: get a good product out early and then continue building on it with a steady stream of quality content. Nintendo has clearly shown their intent to continue their trend with both Arms and Splatoon 2, and the latest wave of content is almost ready for those titles.
Arms will be receiving a new fighter and corresponding stage with its update to Version 3. The new character is named Lola Pop, and as you can see from the video below, her design and fighting style takes inspiration from clowns and balloons. An exact date has yet to be announced for the update’s release.
As for Splatoon 2, it will be seeing a pair of new stages along with a new weapon very soon. First, a new Salmon Run co-op stage, Lost Outpost, will go live tomorrow, August 23. The game’s competitive modes will see a new arena, Manta Maria, enter rotation on August 26. Lastly, a new special weapon, the Bubble Blower, will be released as part of a set featuring the Forge Splattershot Pro. Details for all of this content can be found in the following video:
Given how long Nintendo supported the first Splatoon, it seems like a reasonable expectation that we’ll see many more updates like this in the coming months.
