Super Mario Bros. 3 has been enthralling fans since it was released on NES back in 1990, selling millions of copies across a multitude of Nintendo platforms. One would think that, 26 years later, everything there is to know about the game would have been discovered already. Well, apparently not, as a new piece of animation has been discovered in Super Mario Bros. 3!
Found by Tumblr user Supper Mario Broth, the animation in question can be found in level 6-10. Mario hits an enormous item block to unveil a very hard-to-find Hammer Suit. As he collects it and switches into the new garb, there is an incline directly below; if Mario is sliding down it as he gather the power-up, the game will show the plumber sliding down it actually wearing the suit! Why is that noteworthy? Normally, Mario is incapable of sliding anywhere while wearing the Hammer Suit!
It’s not the most groundbreaking discovery, but it’s still amazing to think that a game played by so many people still has nuggets laying around, waiting to be uncovered. What do you think of this discovery? Tell us below!

This isn’t news. We’ve known about this for years. It’s present in the Super Mario All-Stars and Mario Advance remakes as well.
This…is not news. The Punch Out! tell is amazing news; this Mario 3 animation I have been doing since the fourth grade.
