If you’ve ever forgotten to save your game in an Animal Crossing title, you’ve more than likely crossed paths with Mr. Resetti, the more-than-irritable mole who will chew you out without remorse.
According to Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ Project Lead Aya Kyogoku, Mr. Resetti’s role as we know it is coming to an end. In an interview with Mashable at this year’s E3, Kyogoku confirmed that Resetti would be displaced due to the game’s new auto-save function:
“Unfortunately because there’s no necessity to reset the game or reset button on the Switch, Mr. Resetti had a hard time. He was laid off from his position.”
Kyogoku went on to say that she believes the change is for the best, given that it will allow players to turn off the game at any time without having to remember to save first. But for those of us feeling sad at the loss of Mr. Resetti, there is a ray of hope — Kyogoku confirmed that Mr. Resetti is looking for another job:
“We also believe that Mr. Resetti is looking for a new job after his layoff. So please look forward to that.”
What could Mr. Resetti’s new role be? Will he appear in some other capacity in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? We may have to wait until the game launches on March 20, 2020 to find out.
