Monster Hunter XX has been kicking around in Japan since last August but, over the past year, word of the game coming to Western shores had not been forthcoming from Capcom. With Monster Hunter World doing gangbusters on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, many Nintendo fans have been feeling put out by the lack of any news about Monster Hunter coming to Switch in this region. Thankfully, that has just changed, as Capcom has given word that the game, now dubbed Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, will indeed be heading to both North America and Europe. The press release revealed some interesting tidbits about Generations Ultimate, which we’ve broken down, below:
- Fans can play the game in tabletop, handheld, and TV modes and take advantage of both local and online co-op with up to three other players simultaneously.
- A large roster of both classic and new monsters will be in the game.
- An extra dangerous Elder Dragon will be available to fight.
- New quest level of “G” will be available, representing some of the greatest challenges yet seen in the series.
- Hunter Arts are powerful attacks that can be utilized via the touch screen and are meant to lend a hand to newbie players.
- Two new hunting styles:
- Brave Style—Land consecutive blows and unlock new attacks.
- Alchemy Style—Meant for support; create new items right in the heat combat.
- Transfer save files from Monster Hunter Generations into Generations Ultimate and pick up where you left off.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate will launch physically and digitally for Nintendo Switch on August 28. A special demo will be available at this year’s E3, so if you’re headed there be sure to hit up Capcom’s booth. We know we will!
