Last month, Wii U owners got their first opportunity to experience the world of Minecraft. This week, they’ll have another opportunity as Minecraft: Story Mode Episode One is scheduled to arrive on the Wii U eShop!
Minecraft: Story Mode, from developer Telltale Games, is the same type of episodic release that should be familiar to fans of the developer, but with the same building mechanics that have made Minecraft such a success. This week will see the release of the game’s first chapter, with four subsequent chapters scheduled for release sometime in the near future. The Wii U release will sport a handful of console-specific features, including off-TV Play, and touchscreen controls.
The backstory of the world of Minecraft has never been fully explored, but Telltale’s new title aims to add some depth to the game’s universe. With a voice cast that includes the likes of Brian Posehn, Billy West, Phil LaMarr and more, Minecraft: Story Mode already looks like another strong entry from the developer. Since Telltale’s critically acclaimed takes on The Walking Dead and Fables never made their way to Wii U, this might be the perfect opportunity for Nintendo fans to see what all the fuss is about!
Minecraft: Story Mode Episode One will cost $5 when it releases this Thursday. Fans can also buy a season pass for $20, saving them the cost of one individual chapter.
