One genre that continues to see quite a bit of love on Nintendo Switch is survival horror. Whether it’s Resident Evil or indie fare like Back in 1995, there are a number of ways to get some scares on Switch. If anyone is still itching to get their pants frightened off, good news: Draw Distance (of Serial Cleaner fame) and Impulse Games LLC are bringing Midnight Evil to Switch! Here’s the announcement trailer:

Here’s what fans can expect from the game:

It’s late at night while you’ve discovered a mysterious book that seems to have its own evil agenda. As you begin to read through it, you realize that you are not alone, the monsters are coming. The only way to free yourself from this fiendish nightmare is to keep reading and finish the book.
Midnight Evil is a story driven first person horror game where you take a role of William Crinkle, a child who is being attacked by goblin-like creatures known as Urklings, the beasts have a taste for the flesh of children. While spotting them in time can banish them for a while they can only be defeated by reading the text of the book that binds them.
Can you survive the night?
Features:
  • A familiar Sit-And-Survive play style!
  • A full spooky narrative about ancient beings!
  • Fully voice acted!
  • Unlockable minigames
  • Charming cheesy 80’s [sic] horror environment and comedic relief!

An interesting take on horror where the player has to “read” in order to overcome monsters? Our curiosity is piqued! Are you looking forward to Midnight Evil’s Q3 2019 release? Let us know in the comments and on social media!
