All right, now let’s temper expectations a bit before launching into this. Yes, Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is on the way. It contains the following games:
- Metal Gear (MSX)
- Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (MSX2)
- Metal Gear Solid (PlayStation)
- Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PlayStation 2)
- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PlayStation 2)
Konami also revealed that this compilation will be coming to “the latest platforms.” Nintendo Switch is arguable among “the latest platforms,” so it’s natural to hope that Nintendo fans will be able to play these games. Especially considering they’re all from older hardware that should have no problem being run on Switch. Sadly, no platforms other than PlayStation 5 have been officially confirmed, so everyone will have to sit tight and hope that it will be set as a Switch release some time down the road. Nintendo is no stranger to the franchise, although releases have been sporadic and random throughout the years.
Assuming the Vol. 1 part of the game’s moniker means all of the Metal Gear Solid saga will eventually be collected, one does wonder what games will be included. Peace Walker? Ac!d? The much-beloved and highly collectible Metal Gear Solid (often subtitled Ghost Babel) on Game Boy Color? What about Twin Snakes on GameCube? Fingers crossed that the Master Collection series ends up being exactly that and covers everything released (well, Ac!d was more of a joke, but still!). We will continue to update as we learn more.
