The Mercenaries Saga series has been around for a while now, featuring three entries that were eventually collected into Mercenaries Saga Chronicles which was released earlier this year on Nintendo Switch. Judging by reviews, the series never rose to the heights of strategy RPG legends like Final Fantasy Tactics, which it obviously draws inspiration from, but the franchise typically set itself apart with lower price tags. This approach has obviously satisfied at least a few gamers, because the series will soon be getting a new entry.
Publisher Circle Entertainment announced Mercenaries Wings: The False Phoenix as a new, standalone entry in the franchise. Aside from confirming that the game will be in the same genre as its predecessors, nothing else was said about any new mechanics or story details. However, they did confirm a fall 2018 release window.
So, for fans of the genre or those who at least have an itch to scratch, you still have at least a few months to wait. Or, you can pick up Mercenaries Saga Chronicles to see if the franchise might be your cup of tea.
