Recently, it seems like superheroes have only been coming to video games in Lego form. While those games are generally pretty good, there hasn’t been much that really captures the immense power of godlike beings protecting the entire world from existential threats. Even if it can’t get a major character license, Megaton Rainfall looks like a game that is finally trying to accomplish this goal.
In the game, you assume the role of a powerful, otherworldly being who is tasked with saving the Earth from invading aliens. Since you’re pretty much invincible, you instead have to worry about damage to the cities you fight in and the loss of innocent life, which also means you need to be cautious about where and how you use your own powers because you can topple a skyscraper just easily as the aliens. As you can see from the trailer below, the game also aims for an impressive sense of scale.
Megaton Rainfall will be available in the Switch eShop on August 8.
