It’s ironic that Level-5’s upcoming project Megaton Musashi is set in the year 2118, because it was starting to feel like that was when fans would finally be able to experience it. Revealed back in 2016, Megaton Musashi is a multi-platform endeavor that will be comprised of an anime, video game, toys, and possibly even a manga. Here’s a look at the cross-media project:
Details about Megaton Musashi have been nebulous (if not outright nonexistent) since then. We know that it’s set a little less than a hundred years from now on an Earth in conflict with the evil Dorakuta aliens using the nominal Musashi mechs for defense. Beyond that? Nothing… until Jump Festa 2020 in December, that is! Level-5 plans to show off new details about Megaton Musashi during the festivities which run from December 21 to December 22.
When it was first shown off, Megaton Musashi was being touted as a 3DS release, but given the rapid decline of Nintendo’s handheld following the launch of Switch, it’s likely that the new series might be skipping over the aging system.
