News Desk Masthead - Mario 1

While Mario might best be known for his heroic actions protecting the Mushroom Kingdom, as well as his surprisingly impressive athletic outings, fans are also familiar with his day job as a plumber. After all, the man has to put green in the bank somehow, and it would explain how masterfully he navigates pipes. However, according to a recent update from Nintendo, it looks like Mario has given up his blue-collar roots.

Nintendo’s Japanese website has posted a new profile for their mascot, and it suggests he hasn’t worked in his old trade in quite a while, stating, “he also seems to have worked as a plumber a long time ago.”

This news makes perfect sense. Over his many adventures, Mario has likely collected an impressive fortune in gold coins, won countless major sporting events, and constantly rubs elbows with royalty. It stands to reason the mustachioed hero is probably set for life at this point.
