Psyonix, developer of the cars-meets-soccer phenomenon Rocket League, has revealed that the Switch version of the game will receive exclusive Nintendo-themed cars when it launches later this year.
The new NSR car is styled after the Mario Bros. and features a different color and logo depending on which team you are on. The Orange team gets Mario, while Luigi is available for those on the Blue. As seen in the below reveal trailer, the car will have its own unique Super Star boost trail.
The other vehicle shown off in trailer is the Samus Gunship inspired by the Metroid series. This is absolutely the sort of sci-fi car that we can imagine Samus Aran owning and it even comes complete with a Wave Beam boost trail.
While Rocket League is already available on every other major platform, these cars will surely help Switch players stand out. This is especially important as the game will support cross-platform play with both Xbox One and PC.
Of course, while these cars look great, it does make me wonder what other Nintendo characters may make their way into the game — you just know that Bowser would never want to be upstaged by Mario!
Rocket League on Switch was announced at E3 back in June and is scheduled to cross the finish line on the system this holiday season.
