Rumors that Nintendo’s new Switch would be receiving a port of Mario Kart 8 began circulating once a strikingly similar Mario Kart title was showcased in the console’s initial reveal trailer, and Nintendo confirmed those rumors last night during its Switch presentation when it pulled back the curtain on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Deluxe is an enhanced port of the original Mario Kart 8 and will be releasing for Switch on April 28. The game includes all of the content from the original Wii U release — including the new characters, courses, and karts that were released as downloadable content — in addition to a host of new features. Most enticing is the revamped Battle Mode, which forgoes the original game’s divisive race track battles for more traditional arenas. The title will also include several new vehicles, items, and characters, including the Inkling Boy and Girl from Splatoon, as well as King Boo and Dry Bones. Check out the trailer below for a closer look at some of the new features and items in action.
