When Pokémon Sun and Moon released last fall, Lycanroc and its pre-evolved form Rockruff quickly endeared themselves to fans, as perhaps two of the most popular new Pokémon in that particular generation. Since Lycanroc’s Midday and Midnight forms are exclusive to Sun and Moon respectively, it should come as little surprise that Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will also offer an exclusive variation on the wolf Pokémon when they release later this year.

Revealed by The Pokémon Company this weekend, little is known about Lycanroc’s new Dusk form. The Pokémon will have to be obtained under some as yet unrevealed circumstances, and cannot be caught in the wild. Fans of the anime won’t have to wait long to see the latest form of Lycanroc appear, either; the variant will appear in an episode in Japan this Thursday.

While it’s unlikely that we’ll see any fully new Pokémon in Ultra Sun and Moon, it will be interesting to see if the upcoming titles will feature more new variations on preexisting pocket monsters! Stay tuned to Nintendojo for more as it develops!
