As beloved as the Luigi’s Mansion games have become, they aren’t quite perfect. The original game was rather short and light on content while the 3DS sequel, Dark Moon, expanded the scope of the game but lost some of the first game’s lovable character, namely the impressive boss battles against the portrait ghosts. Thankfully, it sounds like the upcoming Switch sequel might be delivering the best of both worlds.
Of course, Luigi’s Mansion 3 was a major focus of Nintendo’s E3 presentation, so there were plenty of new details discussed. In one interview with Kotaku, producer Yoshihito Ikebata directly addressed the issue of boss fights, saying: “More than anything we really wanted to put those unique bosses in the second one and we couldn’t, so that’s why we’ve put so many of them in the third one.”
He went on to add how he wanted the developers at Next Level Games, “to really bring the excitement when you’re fighting the boss battles.”
Thankfully, the large amounts of footage released over the course of E3 already show plenty of encounters with interesting ghosts in unique situations, not just boss fights; so, it looks like they are indeed working on delivering on that promise. We’ll get to see how well the developers have accomplished this when Luigi’s Mansion 3 releases later this year.
