Luigi’s Mansion 3 is less than a couple of weeks away, but that isn’t stopping Nintendo from giving fans more insight into what the title has to offer. The latest revelation comes in the form of a new invention from Professor E. Gadd, Luigi’s usual guide on his solo adventures. Introducing the Virtual Boo!
For the uninitiated, there’s a fine tradition of parody Nintendo consoles in the Luigi’s Mansion series that dates back to the original GameCube installment. In that game, Luigi utilized a modded Game Boy Color that Gadd dubbed the “Game Boy Horror” (this guy!). In Luigi’s Mansion 3, the Virtual Boo, which is a riff on Nintendo’s failed 3D console Virtual Boy, acts as the younger plumber’s means of communication with the eccentric professor. Whether or not this leads to a rejuvenation of Virtual Boy as a brand is anyone’s guess.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 will release on Switch October 31.
