One of Switch’s launch titles was I am Setsuna, a Japanese RPG developed by Tokyo RPG Factory and published by Square Enix that drew heavy inspiration from classic, 16-bit titles like Chrono Trigger. The developer’s newest title, Lost Sphear, launches on Switch today along with its first patch, which includes additional content.
In Lost Sphear, players assume the role of Kanata, a young man with the ability to restore parts of the mysteriously vanishing world with the power of memory. Like I am Setsuna, this title once again looks to Chrono Trigger and other retro classics for gameplay inspiration. Alongside the core game, Square Enix is also releasing a day one patch that includes new modes and dungeons that will reward players with extra gear for the epic journey.

My physical copy just arrived today. I Am Setsuna had its flaws, but despite them I loved everything about the game, so I’m looking forward to this, especially since for many years the nature of memory has been a particularly interesting theme for me.
