The Detective Pikachu movie is moving forward with casting, and Justice Smith has been confirmed as the live-action lead for the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Smith is best known for his work in the Netflix series The Get Down, which recently wrapped up its second and final season. He has also been in Paper Towns and will star in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which is set to hit theaters next June.
Smith’s exact role isn’t clear, nor has it been confirmed whether the upcoming Detective Pikachu film will follow the storyline of the 3DS eShop title. In Great Detective Pikachu, a crime-fighting Pikachu teams up with a human friend to help fellow Pokémon in need, so it’s likely Smith will fill this role.
