Fairy Tail is one of the biggest manga and anime franchises in the world, so it was with a lot of excitement that fans took the news a video game based on the property would finally be coming to Nintendo Switch. It has been previously stated that the upcoming RPG would be dropping on March 19, but developer Koei Tecmo unfortunately has had to announce a delay. Thankfully, there’s at least a firm, new release date which has accompanied the announcement: Fairy Tail will now be coming out on June 26. Here’s a quote from Producer Keisuke Kikuchi:

“I am truly sorry for Fairy Tail’s delay, and the inconvenience caused to our fans, partners, and stakeholders who are looking forward to this title. Please allow us to take further time to polish the game to ensure it is as high quality as possible, so we can offer you a truly immersive experience. We will be working hard to enhance the magic effects, event scene effects, improving the game balance, and more! We will talk about the improvements in more detail in the coming months. This delay will allow us to ensure we provide you a much more satisfying game. Thank you for your understanding.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Fairy Tail, it’s a “fantasy adventure comic about Natsu, a Dragon Slayer of the rowdy Fairy Tail magician guild and his unique group of friends battling against no less unique and memorable enemies.” As for the game itself, here’s what Koei Tecmo has to say:

Complete requests, strengthen friendships, and upgrade the guild’s facilities to increase the Guild Rank. The higher the rank, the more challenging requests are. Fight and prevail to become the #1 guild in the Kingdom of Fiore and beyond! Wield fire and ice magic, summon spirits and weapons, control time, crush matter, use the Unison Raid, Dragon Force, Mode Change, and more – characters battle with their distinctive abilities from the comics and anime, faithfully recreated in 3DCG!

Are you disappointed by the delay? Do you hope it’ll mean for a better experience, in the end? Tell us below and online!
