On July 26 at 9:00 am JST, pre-orders for Stamp Boxes that include a Pokémon themed stamp sheet, a Family Pokémon Card Game collection, 3 types of character cards, and 2 special cards. It is the promo cards that are getting everyone’s attention.
The promo cards, illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita, are based on real, well-known woodblock prints. If you play Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you will likely recognize one of them. Pikachu (Pikachu 227/S-P) is immediately recognizable as Beauty Looking Back, a woodblock print by Hishikawa Moronobu that can be purchased in-game and donated to the museum. The other promo card, Cramorant (Cramorant 226/S-P), is based off another woodblock print, Moon and Wild Geese by Hiroshige Utagawa.

The cards can already be found on eBay for over $100 and the whole Stamp Box for over $200. There are also sites like Poké Japan selling the Stamp Box for almost $200 and are offering raffles for a chance to purchase one.
Scalpers aren’t likely to stop any time soon and the craze for exclusive Pokémon cards seems to only keep rising.
How do you feel about the limited and exclusive nature of Pokémon cards? Can scalpers ever be stopped? Let us know in the comments.
