During today’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct broadcast, Nintendo pulled back the curtain on the latest fighters to join the title, and one is a bit of a surprising selection! Incineroar, the final evolved form of the Pokémon Litten, is the newest character to join the lineup.
Originally debuting in Pokémon Sun and Moon, Incineroar certainly seems like a unique choice. While the character is unexpected, the announcement does seem to be in keeping with the theme of rivalries that Nintendo seems to be pushing with this latest entry in the Smash Bros. franchise. Ridley and King K. Rool are both primarily seen as antagonists, and Incineroar also played an antagonistic role in the latest Pokémon movie when the character faced off against Ash’s Charizard.
