Mighty No.9, the Kickstarter powerhouse project from Keiji Infaune’s game company Comcept, is inching closer to its 2016 release following a slight delay, and the developer recently gave an interview to US Gamer about the hotly-anticipated title. It’s a very interesting read, but perhaps of most significance to Nintendo fans will be Inafune’s comments about potential Amiibo integration for the title:
“That’s definitely an option for us, and if we have the opportunity to do it, then we’ll definitely take the chance. And also, we know for a fact a lot of our backers are Nintendo fans, because we ran a platform survey [for Mighty No. 9], and we see how many people are choosing Nintendo hardware. So it’s definitely something we have to look into.”

The spiritual successor to Mega Man has been a point of interest for many fans, but to hear that Inafune is interested in going the route of Yacht Club Game’s Shovel Knight and procuring a Nintendo console-exclusive Amiibo, well… that’s really exciting! Whether it will happen or not is anyone’s guess right now, but given Inafune’s pedigree as a creator and long history with Nintendo, I don’t think it’s farfetched to see this mashup coming to fruition. Inafune has a ton of ambition for Mighty No.9 as a multimedia franchise, so hopefully he gets in touch with Nintendo about making a Beck Amiibo (or any other character from the game) a reality!
