The only thing that can drum up as much excitement in a fan base as a new title in a beloved franchise is that title’s special edition. Regardless of where you are in the world, getting some cool, limited edition collectibles has an undeniable appeal that more and more developers and publishers are looking to take advantage of. Nintendo isn’t new to this game, but its efforts in Japan for the upcoming release of Hyrule Warriors Legends is definitely noteworthy.
The 3DS title will be available in two special versions, a Premium Box and a Treasure Box. The former will retail for 9,800 yen (about $81.61 USD) and will come with a clock shaped like the compass items that are a staple in Zelda games, alongside an art book. The compass clock can also be worn as a pendant, for those who want to be Hyrule’s answer to Flavor Flav. The Treasure Box will be the more exclusive of the two as it will cost 13,800 yen (about $115 USD) and only be available through Amazon Japan and Game City. The bigger bundle includes all the contents of the Premium Box along with a talking fairy plushy and an actual, fully functioning ocarina.
Hyrule Warriors Legends will be released in Japan on January 21, 2016, but won’t find its way to Europe or the Americas until later in 2016. Hopefully they’ll bring these goodies to the rest of the world as well.
