HORI announced last week that they’re coming out with a left Joy-Con featuring a d-pad, which will replace the d-pad-like buttons on the official, Nintendo-manufactured Joy-Con. This is especially good news for Nindie fans that would prefer a proper d-pad for movement rather than clicking on the face buttons.
However, the HORI Joy-Con won’t feature HD Rumble, gyro sensors, or an accelerometer, has no Bluetooth functionality, and must be used in handheld mode. Those interested have to decide whether the addition of the d-pad is worth the loss of those features and the requirement to play in handheld mode.
The Joy-Con was available for preorder on Play Asia but it looks as though preorders have been stopped at the time of writing.
Would you be interested in a Joy-Con with a d-pad? Do you feel it’s worth the loss of the other features in exchange? Sound off below.
