Retro gaming is all the rage these days, whether it’s via clone consoles, retro systems like Genesis Mini, or even retro-inspired software. Upcoming Switch releases Haunted: Halloween ’86 and Creepy Brawlers are both examples of the latter. They’re both authentic, NES-grade games made within the past few years!
Both titles were produced by Pittsburg-based developers Retrotainment Games and Mega Cat Studios. Haunted: Halloween ’86 and Creepy Brawlers were imprinted on cartridges and sold to be played on NES in 2016 and 2017, respectively. As the developers note, they strove to make the titles as authentically retro as possible and were “completely coded in the original 6502 Assembly language for an authentic 8-bit experience.”
The two beat ’em ups will be launching via Nintendo eShop October 24.
