The Pokémon franchise has played host to a number of unique spin-offs, but Great Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Combination for 3DS might be one of the more interesting ones.
The game features a Pikachu who can communicate with people, has a surprisingly deep voice, and apparently works as a detective. Not much is known about the mystery at hand, but the story starts with Pikachu teaming up with a human named Tim Goodman who is new to the game’s setting, Rhyme City. The nature of the actual gameplay is also a big question mark, having so far only been described as a “cinematic adventure” and with a trailer that appears to have only shown cut scenes.
Thankfully, the unknowns about Great Detective Pikachu won’t remain shrouded too long, because the game is already scheduled for release on the Japanese eShop on February 3 for 1,500 yen, though those who download it before the end of February will get a 300 yen discount. Nothing has been said regarding a worldwide release, but considering Nintendo’s big push to celebrate Pokémon’s 20th anniversary, it seems highly likely sooner or later.

This has totally piqued my interest. NOA, please translate this quickly!
Get David Hayter to voice the English version and I’m in. :^) “Pika-pika?! …We’ve had a couple of run-ins in the past.”
You’re a genius, and I mean that sincerely.
