Over the last year and a half, Switch has played host to a number of ports. While some gamers have found this frustrating, those who never had the chance to enjoy these titles on their initial run have found a lot to love, with the added benefit of playing them on the go. The Fullbright Company and Annapurna Interactive apparently agree, as they’ve announced a Switch port of their 2013 release, Gone Home.
In Gone Home, players take on the role of Katie Greenbriar who, after spending a year abroad, has discovered her house is empty and her family is missing. Set in 1995, the title is a bit on the unconventional side: there are no real puzzles or opponents to overcome. Instead, players must explore the house and discover what happened to the Greenbriar family through notes and possessions they’ve left at the home.
In addition to the main game, the title also features more than 90 minutes of behind-the-scenes features, detailing the making of Gone Home. In addition to the game’s developers, there is also commentary from the musicians and voice actors from the game.
While Gone Home is a bit on the older side, it received a number of awards and accolades upon release. Since the title has never seen release on a Nintendo system, Switch owners can see if it was worth the wait when it arrives on eShop August 23. The title will also receive a physical release from iam8bit, as well as a vinyl soundtrack, though no release date for either has been given at this time.
