Wii gets a bad rep these days for the abundance of “shovelware” or cash grab junk games that graced the system. While Wii indeed has some pitiable software as part of its legacy, there are also a number of underrated games kicking around in its library, as well. Case in point: Bandai Namco’s Go Vacation.
Go Vacation was a mini-game compilation similar to Wii Sports Resort, except here players were able to freely roam the island environment (fittingly dubbed Kawawii). With four different regions to explore and 50-minigames to engage in, Go Vacation was a fun, if unspectacular, game. So naturally it’s getting an HD port on Switch!
Wait… what?! Yeah, you read that right. Go Vacation is back, this time being published by Nintendo itself. It’s a bit random for Nintendo to revive a somewhat obscure, third-party game, but as noted above, Go Vacation was a fun little title that this writer, at least, wouldn’t mind getting another crack at.
This version of Go Vacation comes boasting upgraded HD visuals as well as a couple of new extras:
- Mountain and Marine fishing with over 30 species of fish to catch.
- Photograph over 40 different types of animals.
- Care packages are dropped via in-game planes and can be found by players.
There are daily rewards and all sorts of character customization options besides the different sports and activities, so definitely keep Go Vacation on your radar when it drops on July 27!
