During this year’s Game Developers Conference, or GDC as the cool kids call it, held a conference celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Kirby series. The Many Dimensions of Kirby is a 50-minute talk features HAL Laboratory’s Executive Director Shinya Kumazaki and Director Tatsuya Kamiyama. You can see the whole thing right here:
The talk focuses a lot on Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which was the series’ first truly proper 3D outing, as well as the transitioning of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land from Wii to Switch. There’s a lot of fun anecdotes and jokes in this talk, but also great insight into contemporary game development—and from one of the premier studios in the industry, to boot. Feel free to soak this in and give us your thoughts in the comments and online.
