A new job listing from developer Game Freak could point to an upcoming Pokémon game headed to Nintendo Switch. The publisher is looking for someone with a background in creating character models, and Game Freak is looking for those familiar with the Wii U hardware. The title is also listed as a “consumer game,” which means it will not be a mobile title.
While Game Freak is predominantly known for their work on the Pokémon franchise, it should be noted that the developer has made other titles in the past. As recently as 2015, Game Freak produced Tembo the Badass Elephant, a title that appeared on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while notably skipping Wii U. That said, this new job listing was for a “RPG that’s popular worldwide.” In all likelihood, that points to Pokémon.
Rumors of a third version of Pokémon Sun and Moon on Switch have been circulating for months under the assumed title of Pokémon Stars. While this job listing doesn’t quite confirm that game’s existence, it does lend the rumor a bit more credence. The job opportunity is scheduled to last until May 2018, so it would seem quite likely we’ll know more sooner, rather than later! Stay tuned to Nintendojo for more information as it develops!

If this does turn out to be Pokémon, I think it’s more likely we’ll see a new generation entirely rather than a third version of Sun/Moon for Switch. I still remember, back after the launch of Black/White, that everyone was so sure we’d see a Gray version developed for 3DS, and look how that turned out. ;) Plus I wasn’t the biggest fan of Moon, so I’d much rather see Game Freak move on.
You didn’t like Sun and Moon????
I think I would’ve liked them a lot more if they didn’t hold your hand for literally the entire game. :P I just wanted to wander on my own without the professor showing up and telling me exactly where I needed to go every few minutes.
