Now here’s an interesting upcoming release: Game Builder Garage from Nintendo, which is as much a learning tool as it is a game. Fans of the Labo series will likely see some familiar elements from that series own Garage mode. Users of Epic’s Unreal Engine will also see a lot in common with Game Builder Garage‘s interface and the blueprint-style click-and-drag setup. You can see it in action in this trailer:

Releasing on June 11 for $29.99, Game Builder Garage promises the following:

With this new software, kids and parents and everyone in between can have fun learning to create and share their very own video games. By connecting colorful creatures called Nodon, anyone can enjoy learning how to create their own game through fun, guided lessons that cover the basics of visual game programming – and no prior experience is necessary!

What’s more, to help facilitate ease of use, players can even plug in a compatible USB mouse into their Switch Dock once the console has been inserted. There are both guided lessons as well as the Free Programming mode, where learned users can employ their skills to build their own, unique games. Created games can then be shared, as well. While Super Mario Maker is similar, Game Builder Garage is seemingly a much more capable game design instructor; anyone interested in working in video games will want to keep this on their radars. Game Builder Garage will be available both physically and digitally through the eShop.
