Cast your mind back to the year 2000. Summer was just starting and your Atomic Purple Game Boy Color was just itching to fire up something new. Enter WayForward and its excellent sports RPG Xtreme Sports. Mixing classic RPG elements with several extreme sporting events like skateboarding and surfing, Xtreme Sports might not have been the biggest sensation to ever come to Game Boy Color, but for those who played the game it left quite the impression. Now, 23 years later, WayForward has brought the game to Nintendo Switch.
Here’s a blurb about the game from the devs:
The Xtreme Sports showdown has begun! Play as Guppi or her boyfriend Fin as they visit Xtreme Island and aim to become Xtreme Sports Champion by mastering five events – skateboarding, street luge, in-line skating, skyboarding, and surfing! When you aren’t earning medals and challenging opponents like the mischievous Bonehead Gang, you’ll explore the tropical island for secret paths and hidden challenges in this unique mix of sports, action, adventure, and role-playing.
Xtreme Sports is available now, so head to the eShop if you’re interested in giving it a play.
