You’d be forgiven if you missed out on some excellent indie games due to not owning a Wii U. There are… a lot of you out there that can identify as non-Wii U owners, after all. Gentle mockery of Nintendo’s previous console aside, one such title that deserved to be played by a wider audience is developer GalaxyTrail’s Freedom Planet.
The platformer scratches some of that Genesis-era Sonic the hedgehog itch while also firmly establishing its own identity with unique mechanics and an interesting storyline. The game has been rumored for Switch for a while now, but GalaxyTrail and XSEED have both made it official that Freedom Planet will arrive this fall. We plan on giving it a whirl at this year’s E3 and will let you know if it’s still as magical now as when it first dropped. In the meantime watch the trailer above, check out our interview with the game’s developer and peep the screenshots, below!
