Freedom Planet 2 has been a long time in the making. Developed by Galaxy Trail, the original Freedom Trail was initially a fan-made Sonic game that evolved into a loving homage to both the Blue Blur and Sega Genesis games, in general. It received a bunch of buzz and acclaim, but the sequel has been being meticulously produced by Galaxy Trail for a few years now.
Although Freedom Planet launched on both Wii U and Switch, Freedom Planet 2 hasn’t been confirmed for any other platform than Steam at this point. With a spring 2022 launch coming for that version, we thought we’d still show off the latest trailer:
Here’s a bit about the game from Galaxy Trail:
Freedom Planet 2 is a new game from GalaxyTrail, LLC, sequel to the breakout hit Freedom Planet. This is an independently developed video game created from the skills and talents of multiple like minded developers, artists, voice actors and writers. In Freedom Planet 2, Lilac, Carol and Milla team up with their once rival Neera to face a new threat awakened by the destruction of the Kingdom Stone. As Bakunawa rises, will the girls be able to stand united while their friendships and loyalties are tested by the secrets about to be revealed to all of Avalice?
We hope that Freedom Planet 2 eventually does come to Switch—once we know for sure, we’ll let you all know. In the meanwhile, we can all dream together about what looks to be an epic sequel that’s on the way.
