Big updates and server downtime are not just common with online games, but a real necessity; it’s hard to implement big changes with players running around the game world, after all. But one has to give credit to the team at Epic for handling their next big update to the super popular Fortnite in an exceptionally dramatic fashion. Those playing at the time things went down got to behold an apocalyptic end to the island that had played host to the game as literally everything, players included, were consumed by a black hole. And that void is all that met players able to log-in before everything totally went down.
While Epic briefly remained mute on the topic, Chapter 2 is now available. Given the utter destruction that ended Chapter 1, it should come as no surprise that players will be getting a brand-new island to explore and this new turf will also play host to new features, including boats and fishing. Also, players will have new ways to level up with medals being rewarded for all sorts of new and existing activities, including the aforementioned fishing. Naturally, new outfits and weapons were shown off as well.
Fortnite has more or less been blessed with the ability to print money, so it makes sense that Epic probably wanted to make this turn around as quick as possible, especially considering the very heavy load their servers will have to handle as millions of folks log back in, excited to see all the new stuff. Do you plan on checking out Chapter 2? Let us know in the comments!
